For the longest time, dermacol makeup cover has been a hype on the makeup industry and it’s not because of the company name, it is because what it claims and what it actually does. I, for one, was the victim of this hype and ordered it right away to see if it is actually that good. The best part about dermacol makeup cover is that it is easily available in Pakistan and, thankfully, for a very reasonable price, unlike other imported makeup products. The worst part is that a lot of fake products with the same name and packaging have been launched in the market that it is difficult to tell the difference between the real and fake one. So, my very first advice is to buy it from an authentic source or buy it from their official Facebook page—that’s where I got mine.
For those who don’t know what dermacol is, it is a foundation that is known to be the world’s most full-coverage foundation. It is said to be waterproof, hypoallergenic and has an SPF 30. Now, those who have good skin don’t really need a foundation with that much coverage but for people with acne, hyperpigmentation and acne scars, especially at this price, it’s a win-win. Since I am a victim of acne and scars, I was immediately fascinated with the advertisement and decided to buy it right away.
The shade range on this foundation is very confusing and you can’t really decide what shade you are by just looking for online swatches. So, I asked the seller to guide me about the shade and they were kind enough to do that. I trusted them and fortunately, it matched me perfectly. I got it in the shade 218 which is for light-medium skin with yellow undertone. It comes in a glittery tube packaging and I find it very convenient.
This foundation, as claimed, has an insane amount of coverage and it blew my mind when I first used it. But there is a trick to applying it. If you are not careful with the application technique, you’ll most likely end up looking cakey and like you are wearing a mask. So, the technique is to use as little as you can and blend nicely. Normally first application covers everything but if you feel the need for more coverage, don’t try to build it up, use the same foundation to spot conceal. It can be blended with both the sponge and a brush, but I like using a brush with this.
It has a powdery smell and very dewy finish, therefore best for dry skin, but those with oily skin have to set it properly and might need touch-ups throughout the day. Although I have very oily skin, I find this foundation amazing and it is totally worth the price. In my opinion, everyone with skin issues needs to try this foundation once. As for me, I love this product.
P.S: I don’t approve this as an everyday go-to foundation because it’s heavy. Best for special occasions and parties.
And now to end this review:
Is this foundation worth buying: Yes
